What Standards Does Exported Fly Ash Need to Meet?

International buyers, particularly in the UAE and GCC, specify fly ash to BS 3892 Part 1 — the British Standard governing the quality of pulverised fly ash for use in concrete. Key parameters include:

• Loss on Ignition (LOI): ≤ 7%
• Fineness: ≥ 340 m²/kg (Blaine)
• Reactive SiO₂: ≥ 25%
• Moisture content: ≤ 0.5%

Only carefully processed and classified fly ash from selected Indian power plants meets these stringent requirements. Bulk, unprocessed pond ash does not qualify.
